ntilit bio
ntilit was founded in 2010 by Natalia Roumelioti, and is a project based design studio dedicated to a passion for creating wearable sculptures and mixed media installations with focus on the intermediate space between the body and the surroundings. ntilit's mission is to create versatile crafted sculptures with a potential of a performative experience in the space.
The exploration of different materials and techniques is constantly evolving, while challenging preconceived ideas of "body to space", interaction and welcoming a ritual of our senses. The old and the new in conjunction with the handcrafted and the high‐tech fabricated add to the potential of a new type of design: a design that intends to be celebrating the ritual of our senses along with the experience of slowing down our rhythm during that interaction. Each sculpture is unique and crafted as a one‐off design for a specific context.
Natalia was trained as an architect and her work has been noted through competitions, publications and exhibitions internationally. She is living and practicing in NYC for the last 9 years. She studied architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (1999-2005), then she pursued a Master of Philosophy in Design/Space/Culture at the School of Architecture of the NTUA (2008), and later on a Master on Advanced Architectural Design at Columbia University in NY (2009).
